• Four gantry cranes for van Oord Marine Ingenuity

The engineering and construction of 4 permanently installed gantry cranes for Van Oord Marine Ingenuity.

Goals

Van Oord Ingenuity was looking for 4 permanently installed gantry cranes at a special location: on a pontoon. BKRS developed a tailor-made solution that took into account the prevention of cracking. The purpose of these gantry cranes is to lift heavy pipelines safely and efficiently. These pipelines have a length of 96 metres and a maximum weight of 120 tonnes. The project of Van Oord Machine Ingenuity is in the context of the replacement of the Tetney, UK Offshore Pipeline.

Our solution

Engineering and construction of 4 permanently installed gantry cranes mounted on a pontoon for lifting pipelines from a storage facility to an assembly line.

Total: 43 pieces with a length of 96 m. Maximum weight of the pipe: 120 t

Project: Tetney, UK Offshore Pipeline (36″) replacement.

The 4 gantry cranes work in tandem. Due to the concrete lining of the pipes, large deviations from the hoisting movements are not permissible due to cracking. The cranes are also equipped with a platform that can be moved in height to enable the pipes to be securely started.

Acceptance and inspection by Loyds Register and Aboma.
1. Operating load per crane: 40 tons,
2. Total operating load: 160 tonnes
3. Overspanning: 20 m
4. Lifting height: 10 m
