R&D Test Systems has started installing the 30MW test rig at ZF Wind Power’s Test and Prototype Center in Lommel. The purpose of the gantry crane is to move drivelines and gearboxes to and from the test bench. Due to the size of the gearboxes, it has to be lifted at 4 points, with the hooks working fully synchronously, so that there are no unexpectedly high forces on the drivetrains.
Goals

Our solution
BKRS Crane Systems has built a 300-tonne gantry crane for ZF Wind Power. The double girder gantry crane is powered by two overhead cranes, both with two trolleys. The four hoists are individually steerable and can lift 75 tonnes each. By having four hoists in each corner of a part, the crane ensures a better distribution of the weight, allowing stable and even lifting. The gantry crane drives inside a building and is built as compactly as possible, so the clearance heights and lifting heights are optimal. The gantry crane runs on 16 wheels, 8 wheels per side, so that the loads on the crane rail and foundation are limited.
Synchronous lifting
With the help of synchronous tandem control in the frequency converters, the lifting units can lift very accurately in tandem. This tandem control continuously monitors and compares the target value and the actual value of the motor shaft position and ensures super-accurate tandem operation.
